If a document is created in Word and you want to convert it to PDF, you will need to make sure the document is created exactly the same way each time (see figure 6). (See the Microsoft Word to PDF converter page.) To convert Word documents, you will need a web browser to view the Word file you created in Acrobat. The Adobe PDF file can be opened with Adobe Acrobat Reader software with Word or with PDF Studio. A Web Browser Does Not Work Anymore? Word-to-PDF conversion software is based on the technology of the Acrobat PDF converter. Back when Word (and all other Microsoft Word documents) was used for word processing, it used the Acrobat PDF converter to create the PDF file in a “native” Acrobat file format. That technology is no more, yet the PDF Convert online tool uses the same technology to convert Word files to PDFs (see figure 7). If your document is not saved in Acrobat Reader, you will need to change how Word saves files to save it to PDF (see figure 12). Open the Word file and then select the Save As PDF button at the bottom of screen. When saving Word documents to the PDF format, the PDF converter automatically converts Word files to PDFs before saving them. The converter assumes Word files have a certain resolution, and that your PDF document has the desired resolution. If your Word file has an external format, such as Microsoft Office or OpenOffice format, the document must have exactly the same dimensions, not less or more. PDF Converter saves document to a PDF even if the dimensions do not match, for example if the file is large (more than 5 GB). If your Word file is already converted to the appropriate version, the PDF converter is ready. You can now use Word to convert the document to PDF using the PDF converter. You can use Adobe Acrobat Reader to open PDF documents that are stored on an Office-compatible file system. However, to convert Word files to PDF using this tool, you will need a web browser to view the Word file you created in Acrobat.
