Original question was NOT where can I get online PDF or EPUB versions of books!! It's a difficult situation. There is definitely a market for an ebook reader (software or physical) that is primarily focused on non-linear reading and studying. My experiences are all from using Google Nexus 7 which I find much better than the Kindle and 'satisfactory' for studying with the app Moonreader. With contents search bookmarks etc. you can very efficiently navigate a dense book. Cross-referencing is a little harder but can be easy enough with bookmarks plus you can annotate and leave page notes. Screen size can be an issue on small devices. It's like reading a small paperback full of technical jazz. Not the best way to study. A laptop is more suited to study you can alt-tab into a note-taking app you can quickly search google save snippets from the book or supporting websites save s etc. Dual monitor is even better -- have the book open in one monitor hack away in the other. If you sincerely need a more natural way to annotate get a w use that for annotations use a physical notepad for taking notes. What you should do is try to find software that streamlines the process. If you can't quickly access other pages cross-reference with bookmarks or resume where you left off then find a better ebook reader. If skimming the book is a pain see if there are any plugins for skimming books learn some keyboard shortcuts. It is a more resourceful way to study once you learn the tools italic . I mean I can scan a 1 books for a particular problem and get all kinds of relevant information back within seconds. So yeh I guess you do get used to it but it will never be the same.
Apps that I use on a daily basis Waze - I grew up in Phoenix where everything is on a grid but then I moved to Boston where I feel like I apparated there and wouldn't have a clue how to get back. Waze is my go to GPS. Spotify - I bit the bullet and upgraded to premium Spotify and it's the happiest app purchase I've ever made. If you're a music junkie like me this is THE app for your fix. Hangouts - I use Google Hangouts as my default SMS app. I find it has better UI is more reliable and keeps all your Gmail messaging and SMS in the same place. IFTTT - If This Then That lets me set up conditionals so I never have to worry for the things that need to follow an action or occurrence i.e. If I arrive at work location then turn my phone on vibrate. There are many conditionals that exist and more you can create. Misfit - There are lots of activity tracker apps out there and I used to love Google Fit but it doesn't work on the HTC One M8(I mean really Google? How hard can that be?). I also can't use most activity tracker wearables as they mostly have stainless steel mon metal allergy to nickel) but Misfit is small light and magnetic so I can clip it to clothes and sync via Blutooth to the app. It also syncs with apps like Walgreens MyFitnessPal and more. Clean Master Doctor Love it for knowing which apps are zapping my power in an easy and digestable manner and quick optimization to make sure my device is in top condition. Inkpad - There are a lot of list apps out there (super saturated market) I just happen to like this one.
